Deutsche Bank continues its support of the German-Australian Hydrogen Alliance

thyssenkrupp nucera Australia joins as a new presenting partner

Deutsche Bank is pleased to announce that it is extending its partnership as presenting partner of the German-Australian Hydrogen Alliance. The bank will continue to actively participate in leveraging its expertise and global network to foster bilateral cooperation between Australia and Germany in the hydrogen sector.

Joining the alliance as a new presenting partner is leading hydrogen technology provider, thyssenkrupp nucera Australia.

The German-Australian Hydrogen Alliance, an initiative launched by the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce in 2020, facilitates bilateral hydrogen trade. It serves as a platform for exchange between Australian and German stakeholders, informing and advancing activities, approaches and providing feedback, input, and industry expertise within the hydrogen sector.

thyssenkrupp nucera stands out as a top global provider of electrolysis technologies for green hydrogen production, with a large project backlog in the multiple GW scale and several alkaline electrolyser flagship projects worldwide.

Hans Bonestroo, Head of Corporate Bank for Deutsche Bank in Australia, said: "We are delighted to continue our sponsorship of the German-Australian Hydrogen Alliance and welcome thyssenkrupp nucera as a new presenting partner. As a global bank, we have a pivotal role in facilitating collaboration among key international industry players and this alliance ensures that the dialogue and focus around the emerging hydrogen sector in Australia remains at the forefront.”

Johann Rinnhofer, CEO of thyssenkrupp nucera Australia said: “We are pleased to contribute to the German-Australian Hydrogen Alliance. Our presence in Australia as a leading electrolysis technology provider for industrial scale hydrogen production enables us to play a key role in the region's developing green ammonia, methanol, and green iron sector.”

“Germany and Australia have been working closely together to develop green hydrogen as the carrier of renewable energy. Harnessing Australian natural resources and expertise as well as German technology, finance, and know-how, we work towards a thriving hydrogen market between our two countries”, says Florence Lindhaus, Head of Hydrogen at the German-Australian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

With Germany aiming for net-zero emissions by 2045 and Australia poised to develop a significant green hydrogen export industry, both countries have formalized an energy cooperation agreement. Leveraging longstanding trade relationships, bilateral hydrogen business is actively supported by both governments.
