SEPA

Since the European Economic Community was established in 1958, the path towards a more integrated European financial market was marked by various milestones such as the start of the Economic and Monetary Union in 1999 and the introduction of the single currency in 2002.

These events have set the foundations for the creation of a European market of goods and services and of the Single euro Payments Area (SEPA), thanks to which citizens, businesses and other operators are able to make and receive payments in Euro within this area as easily and safely as they can do it in their own country.
